The Adidas Jellyfish is a weird sneaker. Wearing it is a unique footwear experience that really must be worn to be appreciated. Even if you like the design, you really have to look down, see them on your feet and feel what that feels like.

Let’s start with how much these cost. Simply put, the price is prohibitive for some buyers. It’s expensive and the pricing ($300) becomes even more dubious when you consider that the Jellyfish’s almost identical cousin, the Adidas Adistar XLG, costs $150. This hasn’t stopped me from buying three pairs of the Jellyfish but it certainly will keep me from buying more pairs (I swear).

The Jellyfish fits a little big. Shocking, right? I wear a 9.5 in almost every sneaker but for the Jellyfish, I went down a half size. This turned out to be the right call. The insoles are pretty cheap and basic: blue foam glued into the shoe. I swapped these out for the Move Baseline insole and along with the cushioning, this makes for a pretty comfortable experience. It’s shocking that Adidas would ship a premium-esque sneaker with an insole that is this shitty but hey, welcome to sneakers in 2026. Assume nothing.

The quality/build of these sneakers is premium. It’s on par with designer sneakers that are much more expensive. When you hold it in your hand there’s a fit and finish to it that is very different from an Air Jordan or GR Adidas. The rubber fins are audacious without making the sneaker a difficult to wear freakshow. The color of this sneaker is unbelievably great. It’s so unique and so unexpected, especially after a run of monochromic or mostly white releases.

It’s not difficult to keep these clean. The sneaker is essentially rubber, plastic, and mesh so I think it’s going to wear pretty well – especially this pair because it’s mostly sail and tan. The outsole is black so you can scrub it and it looks pretty much the same as it does new out of the box.
So, what’s the verdict?
Cost/Value: ★★☆☆☆ (at least they’re mostly high quality)
Fit/Comfort: ★★★★☆ (you could wear these every day and be happy)
Design/Color: ★★★★★ (such a great looking, unique color)
Quality: ★★★★☆ (knocked it down because the insole is garbage)
Overall: ★★★★☆
